KORONADAL CITY --- After Fall Armyworm (FAW) infestation was monitored in some areas in region 12, the Department of Agriculture XII through its Regulatory Division calls for a meeting with the FAW Technical Working Group to control the widespread of the said pest.

FAW is an insect native to Americas which can cause significant damage to crops like corn.

“We need to strengthen our pest surveillance and management activities in the region to protect our corn industry,” Dr. John Pascual, Regulatory Division chief, said.

At present, there are ten areas which are affected by FAW. It includes the municipalities of Polomolok, Alamada, Maasim, Kabacan, Carmen, Bagumbayan, Esperanza, and the citis of Koronadal , Tacurong and General Santos.
