This was emphasized by DA-12 Regional Executive Director Arlan Mangelen during a meeting today with its staff to come up with a regional Food Sufficiency and Resiliency plan as part of the food security program dubbed as Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Laban sa COVID-19 of DA Secretary William "Manong Willie" Dar.

The initiative, on top of the department's existing programs, is aimed at averting food shortage, supply disruptions and unstable prices due to the impact of covid-19 on the production of agricultural products including transport of basic commodities.

For now, issuance of food lane pass is intensified as the regional office, Agricultural Program Coordinating Offices in 4 provinces and attached agencies are open to serve mondays to sundays to cater truckers and shippers of agri products.

Moreover, the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita on Wheels will start this week to help farmers sell their produce to consumers and vegetable seeds will also be distributed to promote urban gardening.
