With its theme, “Monitoring Progress on Decent Work through Statistics: Pathway to Inclusive Growth”, the Department of Agriculture (DA) 12 joined the 23rd celebration of National Statistics Month (NSM).
To provide awareness to the public on the event, the celebration started with a motorcade participated in by different local government units (LGUs), private and government agencies. The motorcade started at the City Hall of Koronadal going to Alunan Avenue passing through the different agencies that joined the event and ended in Cinco Ninas, Koronadal City.
In line with this, DA 12 has taken its share in the celebration because the field of statistics is an important tool in agriculture and fishery sectors. Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) is a DA’s attached agency tasked in collecting, processing as well as in analyzing and disseminating official and relevant statistics relevant in agriculture and fisheries.
Besides DA, other government agencies and local government units also attended in the national observance which is adherent to P.D 647 signed by the late Pres. Corazon Aquino which set October as National Statistics Month.
The event was aimed to promote, enhance and instill nation-wide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of the roles played by statistics to different sectors of our society, while at the same time, to ensure the support of the public at large in improving and enhancing the quality and standard of statistics in the country.
