MARAWI CITY, LANAO DEL SUR ---" As a working boy in the field of agriculture, I would like to see Marawi City to rise again," Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said to the people of Lanao Del Sur during the Launching of Farm Mechanization program and turn-over of Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) projects today in Marawi City.
A total of 15 farm tractors and various SAAD projects were distributed to the farmers and fisherfolk of the said province who were affected during the Marawi siege.
Secretary Piñol also commited other interventions like the establishment of two (2) Solar-powered Irrigation System, Barangay Food Terminal (BFT) and one unit of combine harvester.
"BFTs will help us to access available and affordable food for everyone." Sec. Piñol added.
In his speech, he assured market linkages to the corn farmers of Lanao del Sur and urged the communities to engage in the production of highland bananas.
Meanwhile, ceremonial planting of corn seeds was also done in the area and the Agri Chief personally demontstrated to the beneficiaries the proper handling and utilization of the farm machines.
"We are now able to increase our production here," he further noted.
